I really enjoyed this book. it has a lot of similarities to other authors and stories but enough of its own to be really enjoyable. It was like a Cussler ride or a Tom Clancy with Rainbow 6 but I would highly recommend it as a good read. As an action adventure freak, this book did it for me and if you are after similar style books you will enjoy it. Should be a good author to keep an eye on, I will.

Boyd Morrison - a new Clive Cussler?

What's not to like? Very CC/PK/JD like in characterization, storyline, good vs evil. A VERY fast read. The relationships, sidekicks, love interests had their own twist, though familiar, not a bad thing. The premise was exc. and I particularly liked Boyd's postscript comments, one of the few times that I really felt an authors hyperbole complemented a good work in the proper manner (as in don't add too much or overdue a good thing & know when to say "The End") I think if Cussler wrote it, w/ Pitt & gang in starring roles it would have had a more laminar flow w/ Cussler-esque finesse .... therein lies the ONLY criticism- 'Was it TOO much a Cussler blueprint'? Naysayers would use that as a sign of weakness in their praise, or lack thereof of a read. I could not in good faith NOT bring that up.
I view it as an early work w/character development to come, just as in other favorite authors. Adding in (a very logical progression + in good taste).

Boyd Morrison draws on his experience as a NASA and Microsoft engineer to deliver a thoroughly convincing and intriguing story. There was more than one night when I stayed up past my bedtime because I couldn’t bring myself to put the book down “just yet”.
Morrison added an afterword that helps the reader determine which things or places in the novel are real or not real (yet). I appreciated that thoughtful touch in his writing.
Boyd shares some compelling and witty personal insights to his life on his website at http://www.boydmorrison.com/. It’s worth the time to check it out.
Morrison has another book coming out in December 2010 and another in December 2011.
