Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter has to baby-sit teenage boy, Mario Zook Rizzi while her latest skip trace, Loretta Rizzi needs a sitter. Mario's role-playing Internet game, Minionfire becomes too much for Steph to handle so she and Mario camp out at Steph's boyfriend, Joe's house.
Ranger enlists Steph's help in babysitting Brenda, a fading song star in town for a concert.
Meanwhile Loretta is kidnapped and Steph and Joe determine they are going to have to find the stolen money of Loretta's recently released brother, Dom. Sub-plot involves Lula trying to bulldoze Ranger's right-hand man into matrimony. This is another thin that Steph will have to handle as Tank has a difficult time of communicating with Lula.
