Hugh Howey
WOOL UK Limited Edition
2013 LON: Century SHORT STOCK: We've picked up a couple copies of a small, 500-copy limited edition run
produced in the UK, signed and numbered by Hugh Howey. It includes a
red slipcase and a special signed page bound in, with pictorial boards.
Our order for these books was slighted and we only received two, so i f you want one you'll need to respond quickly. In
other news, the response to WOOL and the WOOL Trilogy has been
overwhelming. If your are waiting for your copies, please be patient:
confirmed orders for the US edition have been set aside until we are
able to ship them with the UK editions, which are expected any day.
Both
the US and UK editions have now gone into multiple printings, and
prices are reflecting the short supply of first printings. One source
has informed us that the US 1st printing was only 3500 copies. We have
found a few of the US 1st editions, and they are available until sold
out. We had to find them on the aftermarket at a premium cost, so
apologies for the increased price.

SILKEN PREY
2013 NY: Penguin Murder,
scandal, political espionage, and an extremely dangerous woman. Lucas
Davenport's going to be lucky to get out of this one alive.
A Minnesota political fixer has hit the jackpot-or so he thinks. Hired
to take down the incumbent U.S. senator with a vicious smear, to open
the way for an ambitious, take-no-prisoners heiress who sees the Senate
as merely a stepping-stone, he decides his payoff should be larger. The
blackmail demand should yield some pretty large numbers, he thinks.
Instead, he gets only a small one-9 millimeters, to be exact.
In
the heart. Davenport is investigating the smear when the trail leads
to the man's disappearance, then-very troublingly-to the Minneapolis
police department, then-most troublingly of all-to a woman who could
give Machiavelli lessons. She has very definite ideas about the way the
world should work, and the money, ruthlessness, and sheer will to make
it happen. No matter who gets in the way.

SHATTERED TRIDENT
2013 NY: Forge
While trailing a Chinese nuclear attack sub, Jerry Mitchell, the captain of USS North Dakota, is shocked to see the Chinese boat torpedo a Vietnamese merchant ship.
This blatant act of
aggression is the opening gambit in a war that has blindsided the U.S.
and quickly embroiled all nations in the western Pacific. These
nations, bound together in the newly formed Littoral Alliance, have
begun a covert submarine campaign aimed at crippling China's economy
before China can set in motion its own plot to dominate the region.
In a desperate attempt to
buy the president enough time to resolve the crisis diplomatically,
Mitchell's submarine squadron is ordered to interfere with attacks by
both sides. China and the Littoral Alliance are both determined to win,
no matter the cost, and as each side increases the level of violence,
they approach a dangerous tipping point. In a race against time, the
submarines of Mitchell's squadron must execute their mission before the
world witnesses an economic catastrophe-or worse, a nuclear exchange.

On a night after the apparent suicide of high school student Elias
Malmgren, a blood-red moon fills the night sky. Minoo wakes up outside
her house, still in her pajamas, and is drawn by an invisible force to
an abandoned theme park on the outskirts of town. Soon five of her
classmates-Vanessa, Linnea, Anna-Karin, Rebecka and Ida-arrive,
compelled the same force. A mystical being takes over Ida's body and
tells them they are fated to fight an ancient evil that is hunting them.

Ones.
As the weeks pass, each girl discovers she has a unique magical
ability. They begin exploring their powers, but they are not all firmly
committed to their mission-to discover the truth about Elias's death.
Then a horrible tragedy strikes within the circle. Newly determined to

parallel world emerges in which teenage dreams, insanely annoying
parents, bullying, revenge, and love collide with flirtation, dangerous
forces, and ancient magic. An international sensation with rights sold

to finish.

DEAD LIONS
2013 NY: Soho Press
London's Slough House is where the washed-up MI5 spies go to while
away what's left of their failed careers. The "slow horses," as they're
called, have all disgraced themselves in some way to get relegated
here. Maybe they messed up an op badly and can't be trusted anymore.
Maybe they got in the way of an ambitious colleague and had the rug
yanked out from under them. Maybe they just got too dependent on the
bottle-not unusual in this line of work. One thing they all have in
common, though, is they all want to be back in the action. And most of
them would do anything to get there─even if it means having to
collaborate with one another.
Now the slow horses have a chance at redemption. An old Cold
War-era spy is found dead on a bus outside Oxford, far from his usual
haunts. The despicable, irascible Jackson Lamb is convinced Dickie Bow
was murdered. As the agents dig into their fallen comrade's
circumstances, they uncover a shadowy tangle of ancient Cold War secrets
that seem to lead back to a man named Alexander Popov, who is either a
Soviet bogeyman or the most dangerous man in the world. How many more
people will have to die to keep those secrets buried?

THE BARBED CROWN
2013 NY: Harper
In The Barbed Crown,
the sixth tale of rogue and adventurer Ethan Gage by William Dietrich,
our hero returns to Paris and London. Against a background of imperial
pomp and the gathering clouds of war, Gage plots revenge on Napoleon
Bonaparte for the kidnap of his son.
Paris, the "City of Lights,"
shines - but alongside its splendor is great squalor. Heroic
patriotism rubs against mean ambition, while grand strategy and
back-alley conspiracy are never far apart.
While Ethan spies on the
French court, his wife, Astiza, works to sabotage Napoleon's coronation
using the Crown of Thorns, a legendary relic said to have come from
the Crucifixion itself. But when Napoleon is crowned nonetheless, they
flee to England.
At Walmer Castle on the
English coast, Gage joins a daring campaign by Smith, Fulton, rocket
inventor William Congreve and smuggler Tom Johnstone to halt Napoleon's
intended invasion of England - a campaign which leads Ethan to take a
role in the Battle of Trafalgar itself...
