VJ Books presents Robert Littell!

A 1956 graduate from Alfred University in western New York, Littell spent four years in the U.S. Navy and served at times as his ship's navigator, antisubmarine warfare officer, communications officer, and deck watch officer. Littell later became a journalist and worked many years for Newsweek during the Cold War. "No account of my education would be complete without mentioning my four years in the Navy; I served on board the USS John R. Pierce (DD753) where I was, variously, the ship’s navigator, antisubmarine warfare officer, communications officer and deck watch officer. These years were extremely formative for me," says Littell.

Littell specializes in spy novels that often concern the CIA and the Soviet Union - since he began publishing spy fiction in 1973, Robert Littell has evolved into one of the most consistently interesting espionage novelists of the modern era.

Littell is an amateur mountain climber and is the father of award-winning novelist Jonathan Littell. He is currently finishing revisions to a new novel set in Jerusalem, a city he has spent two winters recently. He lives in France.
