Yrsa Sigurđardóttir (or Yrsa Sigurdardottir) is an Icelandic writer, of both crime-novels and children's fiction. She has been writing since 1998. Her début crime-novel, Last Rituals has been translated into English by Bernard Scudder, followed by My Soul to Take in 2009. The central character in the crime novels is Thóra Gudmundsdóttir, a lawyer.  Her most recent novel, Ashes to Dust, was released in 2012.
 
Yrsa is married with two children, is currently one of the directors of Verkís, one of Iceland's largest engineering firms, and lives with her family in Reykjavík.
