Akima is a survivor. She escaped Earth just as the alien Drej destroyed it. She grew up--fast--in one of the Drifter colonies that had to become home for the scattered remnants of humanity.

And through it all, she held out hope--hope in the legend of the Titan, the mysterious starship that held the key to the future of mankind.
