THE FINAL BATTLE AWAITS…

After years of fighting to reclaim his home, Uhtred of Bebbanburg has returned to Northumbria with his loyal band of warriors and a new woman by his side. Yet, Uhtred is far from safe. Beyond the walls of his impenetrable fortress, a battle for power rages. To the south, King Æthelstan has unified the kingdoms of Wessex, Mercia, and East Anglia – and now he eyes a bigger prize. To the north, King Constantine and other Scottish and Irish leaders look to extend their borders. Caught in the middle of the storm is Uhtred. Threatened and bribed by all sides, he faces the impossible choice of either staying out of the struggle and risk his freedom or throw himself into the cauldron of war and the most terrible battle Britain has ever experienced. Only fate can decide the outcome.

The thirteenth book and epic conclusion of The Last Kingdom series, War Lord tells the story of how England was made.

I recently ordered this book from you since it was only available in the UK. Ordering was easy and shipping was fast. The book was well packaged. I am especially impressed with the acetate cover for the dust jacket--I would like to do that with all of my treasured books. I will be using your service in the future!

Unless Bernard has an unseen plan, this may be the last Uhtred of Bebbanburg story.  A fine wrap of the series.

5 of 5 War Lord December 14, 2020
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from O'Connor, Canberra, ACT Australia
This series of books is extremely well researched and well written.  Cornwell has shown his mastery of the historical novel throughout his writng.  He manages to entwine historical facts with fiction and brings the characters to life.  His research into each era that he writes about is detailed and fully believable.  He is currently the best writer of historical fiction still writing.  This series along with his Sharpe novels have been made into TV series but they do not do justice to his excellent writing.  He is the King of historical fiction.
