Author Condoleezza RiceCondoleezza Rice was born November 14, 1954 in Birmingham, Alabama. In 1974 she received a B.A., cum laude, in political science from the University of Denver. She obtained a master's degree in political science from the University of Notre Dame in 1975.

Rice is the Denning Professor in Global Business and the Economy at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, the Thomas and Barbara Stephenson Senior Fellow on Public Policy at the Hoover Institution, and a professor of political science at Stanford University. Rice was the second woman and first African American woman to serve as U.S. Secretary of State and the first woman to serve as national security adviser.
