Dear John:

I am confused about this book (John Grisham's Innocent Man). The first edition of this book seems to have a different cover. Does this book you have listed state inside that it is a first edition?

I have bought others only to find out they are not first editions. Help me understand why all his other books state inside on the publisher's page that they are first edition

E. Jared
John replies:

We checked with the publisher and were assured that the book with the numberline (on the bottom of the copy write page reading 10 9 8, etc.) ending in 1 is the 1st edition 1st print of this book. For some reason Doubleday stepped outside their normal coding convention on this title.

We have come across this before, in some cases the publisher completely forgot the numberline. The publisher's explanation is to blame it on the printer. Nevertheless, we believe that the description above indicates a 1st / 1st.
