5 of 5 Jack kicks off a terrific series December 19, 2009

This is the first book in what is known as the "Jack" (Jaqueline) Daniels mystery series. Being my first dive into Koraths writings, I must say this was a VERY fun book. Though the grisly details are not sparse or lighthearted, it is not written as to leave nothing to the imagination. The plot grabs you and holds on until the last page. Mostly, I think I enjoyed reading about the main character, Jaqueline Daniels, aka Jack Daniels. Konrath did a wonderful job at writing from a female point of view. There were no inflated exaggerations of femininity (or masculinity, for that matter). Jaqueline Daniels is not a weakly written character and certainly holds her own both in and out of the workplace. Daniels' likeability aside, this was a fantastic story. Thank goodness it is just the first book of the series...meaning we get more of Lt. Daniels.
