RED DEATH COMES TO FANFARE!

Welcome to FANFARE! We are pleased to announce that our FANFARE Campaign to raise the money needed to publish Alan Jacobson's latest Karen Vail novel has been an overwhelming success! To date we have raised nearly $12,000, well above our funding objective.

RED DEATH is now in production and we expect delivery the middle of October. Thanks to those who have pledged. We couldnt have done it without you.

This year marks over a decade since we first met Alan Jacobson, and eight years since the publication of the first Norwood Press edition in Alan’s bestselling Karen Vail series, INMATE 1577.

There is still time to join the FANFARE campaign— the online book release for the eighth book in the Karen Vail series—RED DEATH.

Norwood Press is excited to bring to you RED DEATH, our eighth Alan Jacobson limited edition. It has been over three years since the last Karen Vail novel, and fans have been asking for the next installment since the release of DARKNESS OF EVIL in March of 2017.

We are pleased that Alan has again put his trust in us to deliver a truly collectible edition of his latest title.

PRE-PUBLICATION FANFARE GOAL: $6,999
AMOUNT RAISED SO FAR: $11,895

Previous Norwood Press editions include INMATE 1577 (2012), HARD TARGET (2012), NO WAY OUT (2013), SPECTRUM (2014), THE LOST CODEX (2015), DARKNESS OF EVIL (2017), and DARK SIDE OF THE MOON (2018).

These titles represent both of Alan Jacobson’s bestselling series:

THE KAREN VAIL SERIES: She is no ordinary FBI agent.

She’s a profiler, brought to life by Alan Jacobson’s seven years of unprecedented access to, and research with, the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit. The Karen Vail series has been raved about by reviewers, readers, law enforcement officers of all stripes, real FBI profilers…and even one of the legendary founding fathers of the Behavioral Analysis Unit in Quantico.

The Karen Vail novels have been named to the Top 10 Best Books of the Year lists for The Strand Magazine, Library Journal, Suspense Magazine, and The Los Angeles Times. So step into the world of Karen Vail and discover a character James Patterson called “As compelling as any created by Patricia Cornwell,” Nelson DeMille described as “A hell of a lady: tough, smart, funny, and very believable,” and Michael Connelly referred to as “My kind of hero.”

THE OPSIG TEAM BLACK SERIES: America’s safety is on the line. Dangerous missions need to be carried out and they can’t be traced back to the United States. Who gets the call?

“Black” missions the United States government cannot sanction—or acknowledge—fall under the purview of OPSIG, the Operations Support Intelligence Group, run out of a secret office in the basement of the Pentagon. Hector DeSantos, a covert special forces operative introduced in The Hunted, teams up with other OPSIG Team Black members—including Aaron “Uzi” Uziel, FBI profiler Karen Vail, and the clandestine group’s founder, FBI Director Douglas Knox. Their mission: keep America safe from terror attacks, international assassins, rogue governments intent on doing the US harm, and other threats the public will never know about. From the streets of America to the back alleys of Gaza, England, France, and a variety of exotic locales, OPSIG’s global reach takes on exceedingly dangerous and far-reaching missions with such authenticity that a real Navy SEAL described them as, “Incredibly realistic. This is how we did it in the SEAL teams.”

Read them in a tufted armchair, by candlelight, in a British accent, while angels are singing.

Since then, we’ve published more anniversary editions, including Mistborn, The Well of Ascension, The Hero of Ages, and Warbreaker.

THANK YOU

We’ve been able to produce these books thanks to readers like you who believe in the independent bookseller, and have a desire to be a part of the publishing event.

Let us take a moment to say thank you. Thank you for helping us to bring Alan Jacobson’s books to market.

We'll have more information as the campaign proceeds. We hope to ship the new title and the rest of the award packages by the end of September.
