VJ Books Presents Author Richard Hoyt!
Richard Hoyt was born in Hermiston, Oregon, in 1941 and grew up on a farm in Umatilla, Oregon. He was the first member of his extended family to go to college. Hoyt served as a counterintelligence agent for the army and later was a reporter for both of the daily newspapers in Honolulu. He earned a PhD in American studies for the University of Hawaii. He taught at the University of Maryland and later for Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon.
Hoyt lived and worked for periods in Negril, Jamaica; Bray, Ireland; Torquay, southern England; Amsterdam; Seville; Lagos, Portugal; Sao Paulo; San Ignacio, Belize; Tangier; Hong Kong; and on the islands of Negros, Mindanao, and Cebu in the Philippines. He rode trains across the Soviet Union and riverboats from the headwaters of the Amazon to the Atlantic.
Hoyt is the author of 27 myteries and thrillers. He has also written books under the pseudonym Nicholas van Pelt. Hoyt is currently writing online articles about plants and gardening for Demand Studios.
He's been married to Tessie, a Filipina from Cebu City, for more than 20 years.
