 Stef Penney was born in Edinburgh where she also grew up. After earning a degree in philosophy and theology from Bristol University, she turned to film-making. She studied film and TV at Bournemouth College of Art and has a degree in Philosophy and Theology from the University of Bristol.
In addition to being a bestselling author, Penney is also a screenwriter and has written for radio.
Her debut novel, The Tenderness of Wolves, won Costa Book of the Year, Theakston's Crime Novel of the Year, and was translated into thirty languages. It has just been re-issued in a 10th anniversary edition.
