VJ Books Presents Author Zakiya Dalila Harris!
Zakiya Dalila Harris was born and raised in Connecticut. She earned her BA at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and then went on to get an MFA in nonfiction creative writing from The New School. Before quitting her job to work full time on her debut novel, she worked in publishing for 3 years in the editorial department at Knopf/Doubleday.
Her essays and book reviews have appeared in Guernica and The Rumpus, and her novel The Other Black Girl was released in June 2021. Bestselling author Walter Mosley described the thriller as “Witty, inventive, and smart, The Other Black Girl goes deeper to take on class privilege, race, and gender in a narrative that slyly plays along the edges of convention." It is already the process of being adapted for television.
Harris lives in Brooklyn, NY.
