FALSE LIGHT by Caroline LLEWELLYN - BOOK - ADVANCE READING COPYKerreck Du can be a dangerous place, as young American researcher Dana Morrow learns to her peril when she travels from London to the remote house to visit its owner, famous photographer Quentin Finn and his enigmatic, attractive son, Daniel. Dana hopes to further her study of Victorian spiritualist Marianna Hobhouse, who once lived in the house with her photographer husband, Henry Hobhouse. Quentin Finn now owns a large collection of Hobhouse material. He doesn't often open his house or his files to visitors, but for some reason he seems to welcome Dana. Dana delights in the house and the countryside, but she gradually discovers that they hold many secrets. Why, for instance, did Henry Hobhouse, a century ago, have his wife declared insane? Was she truly ill, or did he have some dark motive? And, more urgently, why, in the late twentieth century, are women dying at Kerreck Du? A killer, known only as the Gull, has thrown at least two women from the cliffs into the sea, and he may have more victims in mind. He, too, is perhaps a photographer, like Hobhouse, Quentin Finn, and Daniel.
