Mark Lawrence is one of the greatest fantasy writers of our day. This is the 2nd book in his most recent trilogy which follows the world of Abeth. I am a woman who doesn't usually read high fantasy, and I rarely read male fantasy authors--Mark Lawrence is the incredible exception because no one writes a female character better than he does, and his high fantasy is fascinating, never slow. Lawrence is a genius, a bit like Patrick Rothfuss, but a faster paced read. Lawrence can be read over & over again, yet you always find a new aspect to appreciate.  I truly believe Mark Lawrence is a genius, and I preorder his work the second it's possible to do so. This book in particular blew my mind round about page 220. It's just such an amazing read! Seriously, if you love fantasy, you should be reading Mark Lawrence. Read the Book of the Ancestor Trilogy, then this one. You'll appreciate this one so much more that way.
