Brad Thor is the award-winning Creator, Producer, Writer, and Host of the critically acclaimed, nationwide Public Television travel series, Traveling Lite which is seen internationally throughout Europe, Canada, South America, Asia, the Middle East, and Russia. The Chicago Tribune has hailed Brad's work as " Brilliant..." and a " lively new entry into the often tepid ranks of travel television."
After graduating from the same liberal arts high school (Francis W. Parker) in Chicago as Daryl Hannah ( Splash), Jennifer Beals ( Flashdance), Anne Heche ( Wag The Dog and 6 Days 7 Nights), and Billy Zane ( The Phantom and Titanic), Brad went on to study Creative Writing at the University of Southern California under renowned author T.C. Boyle, where he graduated cum laude.
After working for prolific Film Producer, John Hughes of "Breakfast Club" through "Home Alone" fame, Brad created Thor Entertainment, Inc. and launched the Traveling Lite television series. The idea for the youth oriented travel series had come to him while living and working on the Greek island of Paros. To this day, Greece is still one of Brad's favorite vacation destinations.
Despite his success in television, Brad never gave up his childhood dream of becoming a novelist. While filming his Traveling Lite episode in Lucerne, Switzerland, he came up with the idea for The Lions of Lucerne. Via a friendship struck up with a Simon and Schuster sales rep. he met on a train from Munich to Amsterdam, Brad's first novel, the Lions of Lucerne, was published by Pocket Books in January 2002 to great critical acclaim and went on to become a national bestseller. Both Lions of Lucerne and his next book, Path of the Assassin, featured Secret Service Agent and ex-Navy SEAL, Scot Harvath. Since then he has gone on to write seven more Scot Harvath novels, State of the Union, Blowback, Takedown, The First Commandment, The Last Patriot, The Apostle, and Foreign Influence. His latest Scot Harvath novel-- Full Black--releases July 2011.
Brad lives in Park City, UT with his wife, Trish, a physician to the US Ski Team and their new baby daughter. Brad is an avid snow skier, water skier, hiker, and mountain biker. He continues to travel and loves deep-sea fishing and fly-fishing in exotic locations around the world.
