VJ Books Presents Author Kevin J. Anderson!
Kevin J. Anderson was born in 1962 in Racine, Wisconsin, and spent his childhood in a little town south of Madison. He wrote his first work of fiction on his father's typewriter at age 8, and by 10 had saved enough money for a typewriter of his own. Anderson first approached a publisher as a freshman in high school, but it took him two years and 80 rejections before he finally saw one of his stories in print.
Anderson graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a degree in Physics and Astronomy and worked at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for 13 years doing technical writing. During this time, he also published his first full-length novel, Resurection (1988), and eventually left his work there to write novels full time. He now has well over 100 novels to his name, more than 50 of which have been bestsellers. His career has been a study in the importance of persistence; despite his eventual rampant success, he was faced with over 700 rejection slips over the course of his career.
Anderson writes fantasy, science fiction, and horror, among other genres. In addition to writing solo, he has collaborated with authors such as Dean Koontz and Brian Herbert. He has also written numerous media tie-ins for major franchises such as Star Wars, the X-Files, and Dune.
Besides writing, Anderson is a Board member of the Challenger Centers for Space Science Education and the Lifeboat Foundation, and an avid mountain climber. He ahs climbed ever peak over 14,000 feet in the State of Colorado and visited 6 continents.
Anderson and his wife Rebecca Moesta are the publishers of WordFire Press. They live in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.
