VJ Books Presents Author Isabel Allende!
Isabel Allende was born in Peru on August 2, 1942. She became an American citizen in 1993. She is a writer, journalist, and teacher. Allende is considered one of the first successful women novelists in Latin America. She has written novels based in part on her own experiences, often focusing on the experiences of women, weaving myth and realism together.
For over 20 years, Allended has lectured internationally about women's rights and the empowerment of women; Latin American and world politics; Chile; writing and the creative process; spirituality; and her own work.
Two of her books, The House of the Spirits and Of Love and Shadows, were made into movies. Allende is the founder of the Isabel Allende Foundation which empowers women and girls worldwide.
