In Iznik, Turkey, an elderly historian finds a set of ancient church scrolls. Dating back to A.D. 325, the scrolls are the greatest discovery of all time, and possibly a threat to the best-kept secret of the Catholic Church. But before the man can study them, he's found dead.
Suspicious about what the historian may have uncovered, Rafael, the shadowy priest/operative, is sent to investigate. He discovers evidence that may implicate Sarah Montiero, the British journalist who already knows too many of the Church's secrets.
