Signed First Editions by Genre

The main genres carried by VJ Books include Mystery, Science Fiction, Adventure, Horror, Fantasy, and Non-Fiction (including Humor).

Mystery fiction
is a genre of fiction usually involving a mysterious death or a crime to be solved - it can be detective stories in which the emphasis is on the puzzle or suspense element and its logical solution such as a whodunit. Legal mysteries with suspenseful, law-related courtroom dramas, which pit lawyers against each other, and set up a tense one-on-one conflict between a prosecutor and a defendant; medical thrillers where the author transforms current medical 'hot topics' into nightmarish scenarios, espionage novels with classic or modern day spies trying to "come in from the cold."

This genre is huge, and we canít begin to break it down. Some things to look for include these subcategories: Capers, Classics, Cozy, Detective, Legal, Medical, Location Centered, Local Interest, Historic, Multi-Cultural & Diverse, Noir, Romantic Suspense, Supernatural / Paranormal, Vocational, Heist, and Suspense/Thrillers.

Science Fiction
is the literature of the human species encountering change, whether it arrives via scientific discoveries, technological innovations, natural events, or societal shifts - science fiction often attempts to provide an approach to understanding the universe we live in.

Horror Fiction
is a genre of speculative fiction which is intended to frighten, scare, disgust, or startle its readers by inducing feelings of horror and terror. ... Often the central menace of a work of horror fiction can be interpreted as a metaphor for the larger fears of a society.

Fantasy Fiction
is a genre of writing in which the plot could not happen in real life (as we know it, at least). Often, the plot involves magic or witchcraft and takes place on another planet or in another ó undiscovered ó dimension of this world.
