Dear John:

I am just wondering if you do certificates of authenticity at all, I would like to know. Thanks again. - Shannon

Virginia replies:

Hi Shannon -

We don't offer Certificates of Authenticity, as we are not signature authenticators. Our books are obtained directly from publishers and signings which occur through our long-standing relationships with the authors. Books acquired outside of that system are compared to in-house samples, using our best efforts to ensure authenticity. Of course, we offer a no questions asked guarantee should any book come into question. Frankly, Certificates of Authenticity, generated by book dealers in-house, aren't worth the paper they are written on. Only certificates by recognized experts are of any real value and often can cost as much as the price of a modern edition. Authentication makes sense with antiquarian books or high-value books such as those by noted celebrities or former presidents.
