James Lee Burkes most beloved character, Dave Robicheaux, returns in this gritty, atmospheric mystery set in the towns and backwoods of Louisiana.

Dave Robicheaux is a haunted man.

Between his recurrent nightmares about Vietnam, his battle with alcoholism, and the sudden loss of his beloved wife, Molly, his thoughts drift from one irreconcilable memory to the next. Images of ghosts at Spanish Lake live on the edge of his vision.

This is James Lee Burke's best book. And, that's saying something. He makes Louisiana, and his characters come alive. I could not imagine a better read!

I read book on my Kindle. Not touching the signed first edition. I lived in Lafayette, LA many years and got hooked on his first book. This one is special and one has to wonder how many more there will be.

Getting the signed first edition was easy and am very glad I did this!

Will this be the last of the Robicheaux series?  How many more years do we get a new book every year?  This latest Robicheaux saga is relevant to current politics and societal fears.  Elegantly crafted as always.  We can only hope that there is more to come.
