Should I Attach Bookplates to my Collectible Book?

Dear John and Virginia:

I have signed book plates that I want to attach to the books. On which page and in what manner should I attempt to attach them to retain their value?
Jennifer

Virginia replies:

Hi Jennifer -

We don't recommend attaching bookplates to books. We simply "lay it in" between the left flap of the jacket and the acetate cover we put on the jackets. Attaching the label actually is seen as damaging the page. Additionally, should you be able to get the book signed you can then take the loose plate and put into another book.
