Dear Virginia: Can I get a personalized message from the author? Virginia Replies: We don't suggest personalized messages for a couple of reasons. First, unless you have the name of the person to whom the book is personalized, it can actually devalue the signature. Second, getting signatures is tough enough, without asking them to write even more. I understand the desire to have a book that is "signed" specifically to someone, but for collecting purposes (and the added value it might provide a collection), it's not recommended.
